The key person role plays an important part with both the child and the parent/carer alike.

There are benefits of having a key person for both parent/carer alike. For the children it provides continuity that is invaluable in helping the child to feel safe, reassured and secure. For the parents it is equally reassuring to know their child is being cared for by a group of people the child knows and is happy to see each day.

The key person’s duty will be to monitor, observe and record the progress of the child’s development whilst ensuring they have fun doing so.

They will plan around the child as an individual taking into account all of the child’s needs.
